OutstandingHighway Coverage

One of our missions is to continually improve and extend our Australian mobile network. As part of a Commonwealth Government initiative, called "Mobile Phones on Highways", Planet Mobile in conjunction with its wholesale carriers now have improved coverage on 9,963km of major highways across Australia.

Highways included in the initiative were:

  1. Port Douglas to Adelaide, via The Captain Cook, The Bruce, The Pacific andThe Princes Highways, through Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Eden,Melbourne, Mt Gambier and Murray Bridge
  2. Melbourne to Brisbane, via The Hume, The Newell and The Cunningham Highways
  3. Melbourne to Adelaide, via The Western and The Dukes Highways
  4. Sydney to Brisbane via the Sydney Newcastle Freeway and New EnglandHighway
  5. Sydney to Adelaide, via The Hume and The Sturt Highways
  6. Sydney to Melbourne, via The Hume and The Sturt Highways
  7. Hobart to Burnie, via The Midland and The Bass Highways
  8. Canberra to Goulburn and Yass, via The Federal and The Barton Highways

The project provided more than 100,000 square km of new mobile and data coverage, to almost 200,000 regional and rural Australians. On average there are over one million trips on these vital arterial routes each day.

Important: While the highest standards have been applied in preparing these maps, 100% mapping accuracy cannot be guaranteed. In addition, coverage information is based on outdoor analysis and may differ when indoors. There may also be a number of factors beyond Planet Mobile’s reasonable control that could cause coverage to vary within a stated area. For example, the age and type of handset, local weather conditions or areas of variable reception (e.g. basements, lifts, underground car parks, large concrete buildings, or road cuttings) may mean reception is unavailable or subject to interruption.
